The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has announced Her Excellency, Ambassador Dr. Brylyne Chitsunge, Pan-African Parliament Ambassador for Food Security and Chief Executive Officer of Elpasso Farms, South Africa, as the Keynote Speaker for the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW) Croc City 2026.

Scheduled to hold in Kaduna from 19th – 25th April, 2026, the conference will convene leading voices from across Africa and the global community under the theme: “Food Security: From Policy Paper to Public Plate – The Imperatives of Public Relations.”

Ambassador Chitsunge is widely recognised as one of Africa’s foremost voices on food security, sustainable agriculture, and agribusiness development. A seasoned farmer, global advocate, and policy influencer, she has dedicated her career to empowering farmers, particularly women and youth, while advancing practical solutions to food insecurity across the continent.

Appointed as the first-ever Pan-African Parliament Ambassador for Food Security, she has played a strategic role in shaping continental conversations on agriculture, climate resilience, and food systems transformation.

Beyond her advocacy, Ambassador Chitsunge is a hands-on agribusiness leader. Through Elpasso Farms, she has successfully transitioned from small-scale farming to a diversified commercial agricultural enterprise, spanning livestock, aquaculture, and crop production, with supply links to major retail and hospitality markets.

Her influence extends into global policy and research ecosystems. She serves in multiple international capacities, including as a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, Co-Chair of Phytomedicines Global Health Catalyst at Harvard Medical School, Strategic Advisor to government decision-makers, and a representative of cannabis industry stakeholders at the International Narcotics Control Board.

She has delivered keynote addresses and participated in high-level global forums across Africa, Europe, and the United States, contributing to policy discussions on food security, youth empowerment, agricultural innovation, and global health.

At NPRW 2026, her keynote address is expected to set the tone for the Week by examining how strategic communication can bridge the gap between policy formulation and real-life impact in the food system. Her presentation will highlight the role of public relations in shaping public understanding, influencing behaviour, mobilising stakeholders, and ensuring that food security policies translate into tangible outcomes for communities.

Speaking on the announcement, Chairman of the NPRW 2026 Planning Committee, Chief ‘Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, described Ambassador Chitsunge as “a powerful symbol of the intersection between policy, practice, and impact,” noting that her keynote will inspire solution-driven thinking throughout the conference.

The President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, stated that her selection reflects the Institute’s commitment to bringing global expertise and African-led solutions to the forefront of national discourse. He emphasised that her insights will reinforce the critical role of public relations in advancing development, building trust, and driving collective action in agriculture.

NPRW 2026 is expected to attract over 2,000 delegates, including policymakers, communication professionals, agribusiness leaders, development partners, and international stakeholders.

The Week will feature high-level policy dialogues, technical sessions, youth-focused engagements, and strategic roundtables aimed at generating actionable solutions for Nigeria’s food security challenges.

With the unveiling of Ambassador Chitsunge as Keynote Speaker, momentum continues to build for what promises to be a landmark edition of the Nigeria Public Relations Week.
