The organizers of the 5th Cycling Lagos have officially opened the online registration portal for cyclists wishing to participate in this year’s highly anticipated event.

Convener of Cycling Lagos and Managing Director, BrandEscort Communications, Bamidele Adeleye, charged cyclists from across Nigeria and beyond to register early through the official registration portal to secure their place in what promises to be one of Africa’s biggest cycling events.

Adeleye urged interested participants to scan the QR code on the event flyer or visit www.cyclinglagos.com to complete their registration, noting that the registration portal opened on July 1, 2026, and will close on August 26, 2026.

“The registration process has been designed to make participation seamless, enabling riders to register conveniently from anywhere while ensuring efficient planning, accreditation, and event logistics,” he said.

According to him, the 5th Cycling Lagos will feature several race categories, including professional cyclists, amateur riders, children, celebrities, and recreational cyclists, creating an exciting atmosphere that promotes fitness, environmental sustainability, road safety, and sports tourism.

Speaking on this year’s theme, ‘Trash to Treasure,’ Adeleye said the 2026 edition will inspire conversations around turning waste into value, problems into possibilities, and discarded materials into opportunities.

“The theme also reflects the Cycling Lagos story—an event that began with modest public interest in 2018 but has grown into a movement that continues to inspire similar cycling initiatives across Nigeria and Africa.

“Today, Cycling Lagos has become a reference point for cycling events, demonstrating how one powerful idea can transform communities, inspire healthier lifestyles, and encourage environmental consciousness.

“When we started this event in 2018, there were very few major cycling events in Nigeria, and cycling culture was relatively low. Through consistent advocacy over the years, the story has changed significantly. More people are embracing cycling, and more events are springing up across the country,” he said.

Adeleye added that the success of Cycling Lagos paved the way for the successful hosting of Cycling Kano in partnership with the Kano State Government in 2025, making it the first major cycling event of its kind in Northern Nigeria.

He noted that Cycling Lagos has continued to grow in popularity over the past four editions, attracting thousands of participants and spectators while strengthening Lagos’ position as one of Africa’s leading destinations for sports tourism.

He called on corporate organizations, government agencies, development partners, cycling enthusiasts, and members of the public to support and participate in this landmark event, which seeks to promote healthy living, environmental sustainability, youth development, and active mobility through cycling.

Adeleye revealed that the grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2026, starting from the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The annual Cycling Lagos is organized by BrandEscort Communications in partnership with the Lagos State Cycling Association, with support from stakeholders within and outside Nigeria.
