Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Nigerian Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has returned to Nigeria after being released from a UK prison. She was sentenced to four years and six months for her role in a high-profile organ-harvesting conspiracy.
The organ was intended for their daughter, Sonia, who suffers from a chronic kidney condition. Beatrice arrived in Abuja on January 21, 2026, and was received by family members and close associates.
Her release has sparked celebrations in her hometown of Mpu, Enugu State, with community leaders expressing joy and praying for her husband’s safe return. Ike Ekweremadu remains in a UK correctional facility, serving a nine-year and eight-month sentence.
