■FEAP a Fed. Govt project was conceptualised in 1997.
■ Moving resources to rural areas for productive ventures to strengthen Food Security and benefit the rural populace and nation at large.

WASTAGES
It has been attested that about 40% of the agricultural production are wasted due to lack of Post Harvest processing and adequate storage. Particularly , lack of knowledge/wherewithal of on- the farm processing technology is absent for majority of the rural populace who are predominantly small scale farmers.

ETHICS OF FOOD PROCESSING.
Rudimentary Ethics in Food processing by professional Food Technologists at the level of Core Working Group (CWG) will suffice here, giving necessary instructions on Unit Operations and minimum exposure to some Food science in Processing, Packaging, Preservation,Q/C amongst others.It must be emphasised that machinery and equipment locally fabricated are deployed, employing indigenous technology will be utilised.
Importation of machinery will be abhored only locally fabricated .
The machinery and equipment shall be for production of items such as garri, palm kernel oil, palm oil, vegetables oil, poultry, rice, fruit juice, shear butter, smoked fish, spap, cassava chips, cassava flour, garment etc.

FED. GOVT. AS FACILITATORS.
Local Government Areas will anchor the programme at the ward levels. Based on individual or community based — States and Local Government shall participate in the implementation with Federal government acting as facilitator.

The main objective of FEAP is harnessing resources in the rural areas to establish viable cottage industries that will ensure the desired economic empowerment of the rural communities especially with the advent of AFCFTA .
